Hazukashi House

Was designed by Alts Design Office to mimic the building’s gabled profile. The architects chose to emphasize this characteristic shape by creating doorways, windows and shelving units that all share similar proportions.

BITE IT! by Clem Chen

This bike seat sculpture, titled ‘Bite It’ was constructed from plastic, acrylic, spray paint and epoxy by Vancouver-based artist Clem Chen. The work was originally created for the Hot Art Wet City gallery in Vancouver, BC as a part of the ‘Saddle-Up’ show where local artists were given used bike seats to reinterpret, modify and decorate. Recently, this piece became finalist for a Designboom competition, the ‘ASIA AWARDS 2013′

LIFE-SIZE ELEPHANT made out of paper

The origami artist Sipho Mabona created a life-sized elephant made of a 15 square meters sheet of paper. The finished work weighs  250 kilograms and is just over 3 meters high.

‘Les Cordes’ chandelier by French designer Mathieu Lehanneur – a ceiling light like a rope or a network of light which appears to cross the ceiling. It is a stunning modern chandelier which illuminates the interior of Château Borély, in the southern part of Marseille.

 

SOFT LIGHT by Simon Frambach

It is a soft and flexible light shade made of foamed polyurethane.
Soft Light can be placed in unused spaces like cavities in furniture and other places as an object that fills a void in one’s living environment. Its warm and tangible surface invites to touching and literally feeling light.

BLACK LIGHT – Having a black bulb instead of a regular one adds a detail that makes a big difference in the interpretation of the the final product. Diana Dumitrescu is a young designer from Bucharest, Romania. She likes ‘to experiment the edges of what’s possible or accepted in design.

THE SPOT LAMP – The Spot Lamp by Nir Meiri draws its inspiration from industrial images such as a crane, a spot light, or a street lamp. The base is heavy, made of metal or concrete, which helps balance the lamp. The lamp shade is not fixed and can move freely to the sides, on the slight poll.

CRANE LAMP – Studio Job created Crane Lamp, a floor-standing piece 163cm high made from bronze that mimics the real thing through the use of miniature lights at the boom point and instead of a heavy load, the crane holds a small light with shade.

 

WATERDREAM– by designer Oki Sato who is part of the Nendo team. The lamp-shower or showering-lamp was designed for Axor, part of the german brand Hansgrohe which is creating bathroom furniture. Sato says he wanted the design to illustrate the future of what bathrooms could look like.

Multidish by Maxime Ansiau

Maxime Ansiau is a dutch artist and designer, he unifies two to six plates and paints them with traditional dutch patterns. Bizarre skyscrapers can be found in them as well as row houses in characteristic blue and white color. more here. (via)

Steel Cut Plants by ZADOK BEN-DAVID

In the manner of 19th Century Victorian encyclopaedias the London based artist Zadok Ben-David creates his large and impressive works. 12,000 petit steel cut plant sculptures arise out of a thin layer of sand creating a perfect rectangular installation

 

AKIMOKU COLLECTION

Nendo’s Akimoku collection is based on the 102 year old archive of bentwood furniture models created by the only bentwood specialist and furniture maker in Japan, Akita Mokko. They’re reviving the old designs, creating a minimalistic and yet classic piece of furniture.
